Captain's & Lady Captain's Charity fund

The fundraising for the Captain and Lady Captain's charity has now begun.

The Captain's charity is the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children.

The NSPCC was founded in 1884 and their vision is to end cruelty to children in the UK. They help to protects children across the UK. They run a wide range of services for both children and adults, including national helplines and local projects.

The Lady Captain's charity for 2011 will be The Motor Neurone Disease Association.

The MNDA is the only national charity in England, Wales and Northern Ireland that funds and promotes global research into the disease and provides support for people affected by MND. The Association was formed in 1979 by a group of volunteers who wanted to co-ordinate support, guidance and advice for people affected by the illness. They now have 3,000 volunteers and 150-plus paid staff, all dedicated to improving the lives of people affected by MND, now and in the future.

They will do all that we can to enable everybody living with MND to receive the best care, achieve the highest possible quality of life and to die with dignity.

The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association consists of customers, volunteers, donors, employees and trustees. They work as a team to deliver mobility and access services that meet the needs and aspirations of blind and partially-sighted people in the United Kingdom. The charity employs 1000 professional staff in the UK supported by 10,000 volunteers.
