Phill & Andrea completed their Captain's Drives on Monday 28th March 2011, in the glorious conditions, prior to the tee times "ball draw". Members turned out in there droves to see whether the new Captain's would sink or swim. Members had been making their predictions in the "Guess the length of the drive" competitions running over the previous month. 50% of the funds raised were to be paid out to the ones who guessed closest, and 50% will go to the Captain's & Lady Captain's charities. Who would be closest?

After the customary toast to the new season, Phill placed down his brand new golf ball onto his tee. He proceeded to strike the ball wide right, over the hill and not very far away. "Out of bound right" was the shout from the watching crowds. Not a good start! 175 yards. Guessed on the nose by Simon English.

Andrea was up next. A deafly silence fell on the tee. Could she beat the Captain's short drive. Wallop, off it went. A majestic swing and a pure clean hit, slightly right but at least it was in play on the correct fairway. A fine drive and bragging rights go her way, 152 yards. A great start to the season. Lets hope that the weather continues to this good all year.
